interesting. Any idea why it’s only offered in 25.4?

I’d prefer a long ass bar like that to remain quite stiff

  • Not sure why no 31.8mm. 25.4 is just as strong i’d say, just not quite as stiff.

Funn is based out of the UK and a lot of racers use 25.4 still including their sponsored riders… I guess they’re not complaining or requesting 31.8 and most all of their stems are 25.4.

I know they redesigned their integrated stem to be a little lighter this year so perhaps they’re trying to capture more of the market by making you use their stem with their bar.

  • Blahhh… 25.4 looks whimpy and lame. 31.8 is where it’s at!

  • sicklines: Could you please publish an article about pros and cons of 31.8 X 25.4 handlebars? I could not find any relevant information from reliable sources on the internet. And I am very curious about this topic and think that I am not the only one.

Some statements about this from big bike companies would be great..

    Thanks

  • Possibly in the future we might. There’s a few variables to bars that different manufacturers design their bars to meet with various alloys, widths, and diameters.

A 25.4 bar can be just as strong as a 31.8 bar. 25.4 bars typically however have some flex to them compared to 31.8 bars which typically feel more rigid. This doesn’t mean they’re stronger though. Some riders do like a stiffer bar, while others like a more flexible bar. If you’re really interested, i’d suggest contacting various manufacturers to get more information or try out various bars to see which suits your style best.
