Six Six One d3o Pads
Tuesday, November 6th, 2007
SixSixOne has got some new pads coming out in 2008 that are sure to be a hit. Featuring D30 technology it looks to be an instant success. The way d3o works is quite impressive. It is an advanced material that is bendable/plyable but firms up upon impact. Look to see this technology more and more in cycling armor. It means you can be more comfortable and maintain mobility while still being protected.

I am completely amazed at the speed at which d3o material trickled down into the consumer market. It’s truly amazing stuff, the science behind it is incredible
Only a couple years ago, this material was available only to a couple elite Olympic ski teams, now it’s showing up in all sorts of places

Awesome, looks like a revolution in armour…I think we will see alot of followers with that technology. I remember seeing something similar being shown at interbike though from another company already? They were very small though.
It is great to see some actual science and technology going into armour. I wonder if it will be heavier or lighter than a tradition pad?

Yea, you’re probably thinking of Spydr as they had some clothing with this stuff in it.

Incredible stuff, and the video had me laughing.
Seems only a matter of time before this is in every high-end armor jacket out there. Once it becomes more common and cheaper, it will probably be everywhere. Let’s revel in the novelty of it while it lasts!

Tolle Technik, auf diese Protektoren freue ich mich tatsächlich. Und wenn der Preis stimmen sollte werde ich mir die sicher mal ansehen.
