Yeti Interbike 2007
Wednesday, September 26th, 2007
Yeti has made quite the name for themselves and have always come out with really solid products in the past. Yeti didn’t have their 2008 303 at the outdoor demo so we only got shots of their new bike, the AS-R Seven.
If you haven’t read about it yet, check out the details here, or see our detailed pictures we shot during the outdoor demo.
I also demo’ed a 2007 303. It’s not my style to really talk about bikes after only a few runs but if you guys wanna see some initial thoughts I can write up some stuff for ya.

What can I say about Yeti? They are great innovators and I love their designs, especially this new Seven. But they seem to completely blank the fundamental design principles of rear suspension! Like why not raise the main pivot height on the new Seven like everyone else has to improve pedalling and make a more rearward axle path? And their press release says they’ve tuned the linkage to an air shock, but it’s the same basic link geometry as on all their other XC bikes - too progressive for an air shock, unlike the progressive to linear to regressive that most of the modern world uses. Not to mention the high CG and unsprung mass. I just don’t get it…I want to love Yeti, but they just can’t get it right!
