The Vegas Resistance - Press Release
Wednesday, September 19th, 2007Apparently there will be two expo’s to visit this year in Sin City…
Striving to offer more for our customers, September 26-28th will signify far more than another tradeshow year, it will mark the launch of the first annual Vegas Resistance!
A collaboration of true rider owned companies that want to offer their customers an alternative to the standard “tradeshow booth”, The Vegas Resistance opens its doors to allow dealers, media, and more an opportunity to not only learn about their 2008 offerings, but more so, to relax in an environment that is much more comfortable and conducive to discussion.
Tired of smoke tainted casino air, conversation held at shouting level volumes, overall general hype, and the inability to spend the time we desire with each and every one of our customers, this is our opportunity to give back to those who have stood by us and continue to support us on the front lines.
Featuring deity, Transition, Rockgardn, Canfield Brothers, and Spectrum Techwear, come join us, put your feet up, escape the heat, and walk away with a better understanding of who we are and what makes us different.
“Every year we end the tradeshow season wishing we had more time to spend with those that have supported us. Molding to the norm is not something that we are accustomed to and with a hope to break from the discomfort, chaos, and distraction of the typical tradeshow, we look forward to bringing something different to people and allowing them the chance to relax, have a drink, and get a run through our new 2008 product line. It is much more our style and to be able to partner with a solid group of companies, only makes it better!” Eric Davies, deity Owner.
Hosted at the Summer Bay Resort Villas, a short half-block shaded walk from the Sands Expo Center, each Vegas Resistance company will be offering a hospitality suite where customers can sit down, relax, eat, drink, and interact in an non-pressured setting. It is not about collared shirts, suits, and ties. It is about rider owned companies banding together and having the opportunity to hear what our customers have to say on a platform that is not rushed or caught up in the rat race of standard tradeshow fare.
“We don’t like to do something just because everyone else is doing it which is why this new venue is so appealing. We did it last year and the response was amazing. Our dealers loved coming by to hang out, crash on our ultra comfortable couch and drink some cold beverages while getting away from the typical Vegas scene. We are stoked to have more rider owned companies jump on board and see the real value in this. Doing the Vegas Resistance is more of a reflection of who we are as a company and a desire to be different and connect with our customers on a more intimate level” Kevin Menard, Transition Bikes Owner
Make sure to visit www.vegasresistance.com for company contact information, details, directions, and more, so print out a map, get ready for Vegas, and come join the Resistance September 26-28th!

hm nazi propaganda style, not so cool…
September 19th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
Hahaha, it’s really not meant to be that. They’re not like that at all otherwise it wouldn’t have got posted

yes….the styling is not that good, the colours support that “propaganda” style… dont like it….
but the idea is awesome….

They’re very “Deity” colors; wonder if Eric had it designed…

Ya, very communist era propoganda piece. Not what you think of for a easy going environment to meat and great. The guys doing the seig heil, and the dude with the AK-47 don’t look too inviting. Maybe that attracts the 14 year old skate punk wanna be but probably not people with money.
Good idea to circumvent the main tradeshow floor where you do get lost in the shuffle. Hope it works.

I thought the communist propaganda style was kinda cool
I wanna know why the two dudes in the background look like George Bush

Looks like they’re holding shovels to me. Seems alright. Plus all of these companies seem to have some of the best product in the business and are rider owned so I support it!

Yeah, i love the idea, but the marketing design is 180 degrees of what i think they are going after… which in turn may send the wrong message - especialy to buyers.
I would have figured that the Interbike show would represent the evil-do-er nazi type and the Vegas Reziztance would represent the oppressed who are fighting for their place in the world.
This image they used is straight from a Soviet propaganda poster from World War 2 promoting the ideal of unity of purpose which is critical to the communist movement. they just changed the hammer and sickle out for shovels and removed the red star and cyrillic writing at the bottom that read “People and Army are one”.
But maybe thats exactly the idea they want…. either way I think all the companies on the flyer make awesome products so I wish them luck.
Personally I would love to see a break-away show that occurs at the same time as interbike but is comprised of super rad companies that aren’t quite the big time but make top level products on a smaller scale.

I actually like that style of poster and I think that it is original for a bike expo plus it has some really good rider owned companys in it, especialy Canfield Brothers

its just a flyer …. nothing to do with Nazi’s. come on. These guys ride bikes, they don’t promote genocide. Don’t read too deep into stuff. They all make good products without all the big company hype, which i take it is what the “resistance” is all about. Best of luck to em’ all!

Not Nazi. Sometimes the Nazis did borrow the style from the Russians, but almost never with the “labor” theme of this poster.
Futurist and then Constructivist styles were popular in Russia (and later the Soviet Union) from about 1917 onward. If you want to learn, check out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constructivism_(art)
It might not save you from making retarded posts in the future about things you know nothing about, but at least you won’t confuse Constructivism with Nazi Propaganda anymore.

I liked the poster and took it as the rebelion against the large opresive, tradeshow, used car salesman, and high presure mentality. This is a great idea and I hope it contiues to be succsesful. I didn’t hear about it until it was too late but this is the type of event that I would like to attend.
