Course Video: Seven Springs, PA

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Seven Springs has reopened! They’ve got a new gravity trail setup with lots of plans for future development. Currently there is only one trail and its a beginner/intermediate trail that can be done on anything from a hardtail to a full suspension bike.

If you’re looking to get your feet wet into gravity riding, check out what Seven Springs has to offer. There will be a free time trial September 29th (with lift ticket purchase). Check out our course page for more info, maps, and video.

Damn; that looks so plush compared to the baby heads and dust we plow through out west here at Northstar.

    Dont’ be fooled :)

7springs has some gnar terrain that isn’t in this beginner trail. They had a sweet PRO course a few years back that was amazing. They’ve got tons of potential at this place.

Its no NorthStar but its got a lot of east cost goodies on the other side of the mountain that aren’t in this beginner course. (Mud / Huge rocks / Steep chutes).

I’m getting excited just remembering riding the old trail…

I grew up 30 minutes from there and used to go back for the Nationals. Now I have another reason to go back and visit the family.

Every time I ride Northstar I think back to that nice tacky (when not muddy) dirt back in West PA.

Rode at Seven Springs for the first time since about 1999 today. The course is awesome, if a bit painful on a hardtail. The new additions to the upper section were great and flowed really nicely.

    Sweet Martis,

Is there still just one dh trail? Details of the changes? Thanks!

  7. Martis Says:

Right now, there’s still just one trail, although a few workers told me there’s going to be an all-mountain course set up on the other side of the mountain within a few weeks. I’m assuming there’s going to be some stunts and other North-Shore type stuff.

As for the changes on the current course… The upper section has two or three more tabletops than it did last year (according to the video, at least). There’s a nice big table into a huge berm, into a nice hip on the upper section as well. I’m sure there’s some things I’m missing, but the upper course is very BMX-style, and fantastic for any caliber of rider, as everything is still roll-able. The lower section doesn’t look like it’s changed much, with the exception of the two jumps outside the Foggy Goggle being noticeably absent. However, I have no idea if they intend to leave it this way, or want to put some new ones in. But it’s blatantly obvious that Seven Springs is dead serious when it comes to providing some awesome downhhill riding. It’s really a fantastic course.

There’s a bigger writeup on the course in my blog:
