More Gearbox Bikes Entering The Market

Thomas over at Bike-Community let us in on a nice thread about some of the latest news on gearbox bikes. Bergamont has entered the gearbox bike arena with its prototype named “Big Air G9″. Bergamont is a Germany based company that has teamed up with Suntour using their 9-speed V-Boxx. The article also discusses Nicolai’s, Ghost’s, and Universal Transmission’s G-Boxx 2 efforts in the world of gearbox bicycles.

    they say that that V-Boxx only weights 4,5kg and has a gear bandwidth of 384% but during Eurobike ‘06, Suntour claimed that the system weigh 3kg and has a gear bandwidth of 610%. that’s a lot of difference.

  • Sometimes the specs you read on flyers and posters at the exhibitions are slightly different from the real values … so there’s no reason for wondering about this ;)

    Just call it “tuning for marketing” …
