Champéry, CH UCI World Cup #2 2007

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

Oh finally downhill returns… The swiss deliver with this course. The Champéry, CH downhill course is proving to be a return to some old school downhill at its finest. Nicolas Vouilloz picked a perfect comeback World Cup course.

I predict everyone will be running their full downhill gear and finally this new DH technology will get a good working over by the pro’s in some insane conditions. I’d pay someone a lot of money if they had a live feed… Flipper is at the race, so expect some stellar photos!

Nico, Peat, and Minaar are reported to be riding flat pedals as well.

Jill Kintner has got some great pictures on her site showcasing the steepness and gnar of the downhill course.  Video (here)

Vorb has a few shots as well here and practice pictures here.

Littermag should have some great pictures hopefully and don’t forget to do the off track betting (*hint bet on old schooler’s on this course).

You can see a list of the entrants, here

Oh and here’s the stick in the spokes!

Helmet Camera of the course can be seen below in youtube from a few months back. It looks like the course has gotten a little meatier though since this video came out. You can see the same video on the Bike Park’s website in quicktime.

Yea they used to show biking OLN, but no longer.

Nissan is supposed to be the new title sponsor of the World Cup series. The UCI is supposted to appoint a TV company that will cover the entire World Cup and produce a 26″ highlights-show and 3″ news-show per event.
