New Gamut P30 Chainguide Released

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Gamut Releases their new P30 Chainguide (A 36t specific chainguide). Check out more info inside that Gamut sent us on this new guide.

After a year of collecting rider feedback and testing prototypes, Gamut USA has released its latest chainguide, the P30.

This guide was designed at the request of riders who wanted a higher degree of specificity from their race components. The P30 was designed specifically for the 36 tooth chain ring and provides yet another option for riders and their chain retention needs. Whether it’s downhill, 4 cross or freestyle, the P30 is applicable for all MTB disciplines.

In addition to offering riders with a more refined chain guide, Gamut has included custom 1.5 gram bolt for the top guide which comes standard on all P30s. Gone is the 20 gram stainless steal bolt which means each guide will have a net weight savings of 18.5 grams.

This savings comes on the already lightest, full system guide on the market.

A hard anodized grey now protects the 6065 grade aluminum boomerang.

The P30 comes in all available mounting configurations, ISCG, ISCG-05, as well as bottom bracket mount.

Ultra high strength poly-carbonate remains the material of choice for our uniquely designed bashguards which are available in, White, Red, Black, and Blue.

Good to see they ditched the heavy bolt. You can use an alloy chainring bolt on the p20 and 40 to get close to the same weight savings. You will have to file out the plastic slightly though. - link

Also of interest- p20 or p40 + middleburn crank arms = some decent modding to make it fit. The shape of the back of the arm hits on the bashie and you need to cut a channel for it to sit. Also, for some reason you need to do a little work to get the bashie to fit a saint crank arm, just at the edges of the chainring bolt holes. Weird that they didn’t test these two popular crank arms.

    cool info, thanks

It’s not just Middleburn and Saint cranks, when using a Raceface cranks, there is also the need to file the bashguide by a little to make clearance.

Had a check with Gamut and they said warranty is still intact for the ‘modified’ bash unless its done in a ‘bad’ way.

Great stuff that easy to install and use.

Hopefully there will be a 2 chain-ring version soon.

I have been riding one for a few weeks now (thanks again to Mike @ gamut for sorting that out for me) and it works brilliantly, it is super light, and easy as you like to fit and needless to say, loosing your chain is not an issue!

    I’m a fan!

I use the old guide with the heavy bolt in my demo. Wait a minute – I usw the old guide without the heavy bolt. In my eyes the small one keeps the upper part into place. The guide works fine without the big bolt. :)
