Magura Durin

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Thomas over at bike-community sent us some info on this new Magura fork. Its designed for XC, but i’m sure it’d be more than enough for a DJ/4x/biker cross fork.

The new designed XC race air spring fork is equipped with the Dual Arch Design (DAD) for optimal stiffness. The fork is available for 100 mm standard hubs and PM 6″ disc mounts. The fork has a dynamic lockout system, which optionally is available with the RCL Remote Control.
The upper legs measure 32 mm and are made from cold forged aluminium. The crown has an integrated cablestop for the
remote control.
All adjuster knobs made of high quality aluminium.

The fork is adjustable in various ways - Dynamic Lockout (DLO), Rebound, Preload (air pressure) can be adjusted.

Travel, weight
100 mm, 1.480 g / 3,26 lbs,
80 mm, 1.450 g / 3,19 lbs.

    Cool!

But they still have a hole in their line up… Between the Laurin and the Wotan, they need something with 140-150mm travel. The Laurin could well grow 10mm to compete head to head with the Fox 32 Series, RS Pike, AM line from Zoke, etc.

Yep, i think its only a matter of time before we see them if Magura sees the need for such forks.

Magura needs to get OEM on some bikes to get known a little bit better and more recognition. The Wotan is a great fork that is overshadowed by a lot of other more common forks.

Totally agree… But it’s a complicated situation as they can’t really cheap out (everything made in Germany, labor is VERY expensive there) and few brands if any, will take the risk of pushing a rather (OEM) expensive fork from a relatively unknown band to the public.

However, in Europe, they have some OEM sales.

Sometimes I feel they like to be “small”…

Thanks for the heads up!! Keep info coming!!

    I think It only need a 20mm thru-axle for 4x

I’ve gotten to examine one of these forks. They are very nice, similar in build to a Rock Shox Reba. Definitely will wind up on my X-Country bike. I don’t think I would recommend it for 4x/DJ unless you are ultra-smooth. It’s too lightly built.
