Continental Tires: Diesel and Digga
Tuesday, February 6th, 2007
We have two new shiny sets of tires courtesy our friend Brett with Continental. We’ll be testing out the 2.5″ versions of both the Diesel and the Digga.

The Diesel is a freeride based tire utilizing multi-ply construction with Duraskin. The Duraskin is a side wall feature that adds polyamide fabric that protects against cuts and abrasions. Our version of the Diesel is the ProTection model which has 3 plies for 180 tpi. It weighs in very close to the claimed weight at around 800 grams.

The downhill oriented Digga has a fairly aggressive tread utilizing a special soft compound. The Digga UST version we have on test is constructed of 3 plies at 180tpi as well. The samples we received actually weighed under the claimed weight at around 1300 grams.
We will have a more extensive write up once we’ve had some time to put them through the paces. Be sure to check out Continental’s site for more information and other models.

always loved conti back in the day. highest quality tires, but never anything gnarly enough for the big bikes. this looks great.

Opinions about Diesels are quite extreme - some people love it for grip, others struggle to stay within the trail on tight, muddy turns. I’ve seen my friends dancing on the damp surface while I was cruising smoothly, so I guess I won’t give’em a try, even though the weight is pretty nice for 2.5″ rubber.
